I read this topic yesterday morning. The morning after a poor decision. So yesterday, and still today, what little self-esteem I had has vanished into thin air. Our self-esteem is based on how we value ourselves, our worth. It also determines our decisions and choices in life. It serves as motivation by making it more or less likely that we will take care of ourselves and explore our full potential. People with higher self-esteem are motivated to take better care of themselves and to explore their aspirations. Those with low self-esteem don't feel that they are worthy of happiness and don't take very good care of themselves. While those with lower self-esteem may have the same aspirations as the higher self-esteemed, they are less likely to pursue them. There are people with high self-esteem that are arrogant assholes. That's because they crossed the line from feeling good about themselves to thinking that they are better than everyone else. Having a high self-esteem in fine, it's good, it's healthy, but humbleness is also a very good characteristic. Very often people with low self-esteem are preyed upon, taken advantage of, and made to feel even worse about themselves. I spent all day yesterday being berated by not only myself but another. Some people think if a person has low self-esteem they are stupid and can never recover from their poor choices. Well to those people I say fuck you! PS: Welcome back Charlie! |
