Mental Health Writers Alliance Monthly Challenge

Task 1:
Debunk a mental health myth. Do a google search if you don't know any myths off the top of your head.

Task 2: "Triggers - MHWA 6.2Open in new Window.
What are your triggers? Do you think people are too easily triggered? Do you think others should try to actively avoid potentially triggering others?

Task 3:
Research and write a list of potential resources for a specific mental illness. For example: a list of websites, phone numbers, phone apps, diagnosis/symptom/treatment information for Panic Disorder.

Task 4:
Review 3 "Mental Health Writers Alliance" group members.

Task 5:
Control, or lack thereof, is often a major issue for mental well-being. Do you have any control issues? How do you accept the things you have no control over?

Task 6:
How much does anger play a part in mental illness? Is it something you have issues with? If so, how do you combat that?

Task 7:
Comment on 5 separate blog entries by your fellow "MHWA Monthly Mental Health Challenge" members.

Task 8: "Suicides - MHWA 6.8Open in new Window.
Write about a celebrity who has somehow succumbed to mental illness, and discuss what we can learn from this. Can we relate to their life/death?

Task 9:
Write a story or poem about any true experience that you've had.

Task 10:
Review 2 items in the Psychology genre. Link back to the group using "Invalid ItemOpen in new Window. somewhere in your review.

Task 11:
How do you get over being in a bad mood?

Task 12:
Have you ever done meditation? What kind of meditation did you do? Was it helpful? If you haven't tried meditation, why not? Would you be willing to try it in the future?

Task 13:
Review an item that was written by one of your fellow challengers for June's round of "MHWA Monthly Mental Health Challenge" .

Task 14:
What are your sleeping habits like? Do you have trouble sleeping and how does that play into your mental health wellness? Share any tricks you have for getting better sleep.

What have you given up on?

Task 16:
Review an item in the Emotional genre. Link back to the group using "Invalid ItemOpen in new Window. somewhere in your review.

Task 17: *BoxCheck*
Visit "MHWA Retreat" and respond to the Topic of the Week in the forum. Then respond to two other "Mental Health Writers Alliance" members who answered the Topic of the Week.

Task 18:
Were you bullied in school? If so, how has it affected you as an adult? Have you ever been a bully? How should kids stand up to bullying?

Task 19:
Setbacks happen. What was your most recent setback and how did you overcome it?

What is something about you that we might not know yet? It can be a fun fact, a story, a random hobby, or anything you haven't talked about on WDC yet.

Task 21:
Create a quiz/word search/crossword about mental illness and share it on the newsfeed.

Task 22:
Send a cNote to a WDC member in need. Don't link the member, just link the cNote shop.

Task 23:
Sometimes it's important to be able to tell people "no". Do you ever have trouble telling people no? In what situations? What's the best way to let someone down lightly?

Task 24:
What are some things you wish people would stop doing entirely?

Task 25:
Good deed task! Do a good deed around WDC and then come back and tell us what you did.

Task 26:
Write a story or poem about a specific emotion.

Task 27:
Are you aware things are about to get bad before you enter fully-spiralling mode? What can you do at that point, to catch it before you get completely sucked down?

Task 28:
Do you think it's healthy to research mental health issues if you're a sufferer? For example, should a personal with mental illness go to school for psychology? What could be some benefits and drawbacks?

Task 29:
We've talked about advice that we've been given on mental health issues. Now let's talk about advice you would give people to achieve a positive state of mind.

Task 30:
Give us a list of some potential tasks for next month's "MHWA Monthly Mental Health Challenge" . Get creative!
