Only Chapter One

Dear Bob,

Thank you, sir. I have read your kind review over many times and agree with most, (perhaps all) of your assessments. I will make some changes and edits. Perhaps a complete rewrite. I'm not sure yet.

As I wrote this story, I realize now, that it was a pouring out of personal memories of the time. As such, it is more of an autobiography in story form.

Perhaps a little historical fiction is in order. But I'm not sure. I tend to resist that right now. I'll have to think about it. I want it warm and truthful but I recognize I must hold the readers interest.

Question: In your opinion, can nostalgia be enough to hold the reader? Can just the desire to know of the time and place be "the hook"?

I really love Wendell Berry and his ability to take us to a time and place unknown to many modern readers. I may never write as well as Berry, but I do hope to share the life we lived in the turbulent 60's, and 70's with modern readers, many of whom cannot imagine a time without computers, video games and cell phones.
