Self-Help Books Do you believe self-help books are actually helpful? Why or why not? It would depend on the subject of the book and the person seeking help. Anyone can write a publish a self-help book, sadly. In an effort to feel better we need to be cautious about what ideas we allow in our minds. Just as we are careful with our diets, we must filter what we feed our minds. Not all information out there is helpful to all people as everyone is different and our situations vary. There is no cookie-cutter cure. Have you read any that were particularly helpful? The only book that I found to remotely helpful is called The Castle of The Pearl. It's a book that takes you on a guided tour and helps you examine parts of your life and to awaken self-knowledge. Are there any self-help books on your to-read list? I have a set on my bookshelf now. It's been sitting there for over ten years and I've never gotten past the first few pages. It's called The Courage to Heal and The Courage to Heal Workbook. It was recommended by a therapist years ago. Hmmm, maybe I just don't have the courage. “And the time came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” ~Anaïs Nin "Wdc 18th Birthday Masquerade Party" Now Open for August!
