Jenny, you officially have genius status. I completely hate the idea of how you're supposed to feel around the holidays. It makes you feel even worse when you don't feel that way. When I was younger and hadn't realized yet how bad my mental health was, I felt so bad about myself around the holidays because it was the time when it was most apparent that I wasn't like the people around me. You're lucky to have ex-hippie parents. Mine go ALL OUT for the holidays. Like, multiple Christmas trees and decorations everywhere. My brother has his own house and he and his wife have 7 Christmas trees. My family can't understand at all why I don't want to wear Christmas sweaters and take family photos every year. I can see why you have a better time than a lot of people who celebrate. It's a lot of pressure and there can be a lot of judgment if you don't react the way you're 'supposed to' around the holidays. What kinds of things do you do now for the holidays since you're just doing it for you? Best, ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
