Whata SpoonStealer It is nice to know there is someone out there who understands this dilemma. I too might sit on my hands again this season. I'm not sure if I'm ready to open those doors either. What I do know for sure is that my daughter is never allowed to live with me again. Just in case she tries, I have already put aside a list of shelters who cater to women and other resources to direct her to.

Besides the estrangement from my daughter, my life is the happiest it has ever been. Most importantly, it is drama free. My son and I still talk once a week, even though he has chosen to live with my oldest and pay her bills. Yep, he pays all the bills because she does not keep a job and her live-in girlfriend will not get a job. At one point, he too will have to move on so that she will learn to do for herself. Unfortunately, he has to learn the hard way that even family will take advantage if given the opportunity.

Thankfully my son is an Atheist and could care less about Christmas or Yule. Otherwise, it would feel wrong to send him something and not his older sister. Like others who have posted, once he became an adult, he really could care less about the gift thing. Actually, he seems annoyed to get gifts during the holidays because he just considers it more unneeded stuff to find a place for. He's already expressed to me that he'd much rather just buy his own stuff he needs. Plus, due to him being Athiest, he chooses to work during the holidays because his pay jumps from 18 an hour to 36 an hour.
