The gift-giving is so stressful to me too. And you also can't just give any gift, you have to give a "good" gift. Everyone in my family makes way more money than I do, and even though people say it's about the thought, I feel like it's actually not. I'm always trying to figure out what to give to people who can already buy anything they want on their own. I'm always looking for obscure things that they wouldn't think to give themselves.
I don't really understand the need to exchange gifts with everyone, to be honest. But when I've tried to bring it up to my family they're like, "Oh, no worries, you don't have to get me anything." So frustrating. I'm like, that's not the point!
I never even thought about gift-giving at work. Talk about a whole new level of stress. I can't imagine working in an office and needing to try to get a gift for everyone. That's really great advice to not do it at all unless you're ready to be committed to doing it forever!
