I love your level of frustration in this post.

It just becomes such a thing when you have family who wants to celebrate in the most commercialized way possible and they act like you're pissing in their cheerios if you don't agree to it. Some years I go visit my wife's side of the family for Christmas because we live really far from them and my mother will not talk to me for WEEKS during those years. Even though I give her plenty of notice that I'll be out of the area and won't make it to Christmas...
