A NaNoWriMo fundraiser... compete as a NaNo writer or donate by sponsoring one! |
Hi Everyone, We made it! As another NaNoWriMo comes to a close, it's time to announce some winners! Individual Prizes Congratulations to paddy1 for winning a Determination Merit Badge for having the highest overall word count of any Write-A-Thon writer: 89,483! Congratulations to Jeff for securing the Fundraising Merit Badge in the Highest Overall Sponsorship Raised category: 1,200,633 GPs raised among all of my sponsors! Despite my best efforts with the second highest overall donation of all time (1,147,511 GPs), my seven-year streak of winning the Generosity Merit Badge in the Highest Overall Donation category has come to an end. All hail the new queen... Schnujo's Doing NaNoWriMo? 's 3,500,000 GPs donated is not only a record-shattering amount, but was more than 25% (and very nearly one-third) of the entire haul for the month! Team Standings Let's do this in reverse order. Here's how things sorted out: 12th Place: The Orange Team with 48,448 words 11th Place: The Green Team with 138,404 words 10th Place: The Brown Team with 156,747 words! 9th Place: The White Team with 198,313 words 8th Place: The Purple Team with 208,391 words 7th Place: The Pink Team with 219,857 words 6th Place: The Blue Team with 230,460 words 5th Place: The Gold Team with 233,837 words 4th Place: The Yellow Team with 241,760 words! And now for the podium finishes: 3rd Place. With an unadjusted word count of 278,639 words, The Silver Team finished with this year's bronze medal. This is the Silver Team's highest finish ever! 2nd Place. With an unadjusted word count of 296,708 words, The Red Team secured the silver medal. They still hold the record for the most wins with their incredible run of three consecutive victories back in 2011-2013, and nearly managed to add to that total, but were edged out by... 1st Place. The Black Team with an adjusted word count of 322,904 words. Combined with their win in 2015, the Black Team joins the Red and Pink teams as the only multi-winners in the event's history! Other Stats 53 competing writers 34 NaNo Winners (64.2% success rate... that's nearly two out of every three participants and our highest success ratio ever!) 2,304,328 total words written The top three teams (Black, Red, Silver) each had all of their team members cross the finish line... the most teams with 100% completion ever! The Write-A-Thon had a higher word count than the following official NaNoWriMo regions: The cities of Santa Barbara (California, USA), Cornwall (England), Newcastle (Australia), and Seoul (South Korea). The islands of British Columbia (Canada). The country of Greece. And we were only six words short of beating out Romania! Funds I'm proud to report that the Write-A-Thon's final take this year was: 11,462,280 Gift Points! What this means: Each 10% beneficiary of the activity will receive approximately 1,146,228 GPs! Members of the winning Black Team will each receive 143,279 GPs! BONUS #1: Due to the amazing number of GPs raised this year (and the fact that a lot of the MBs were on sale for Cyber Monday), everyone who actively participated will be receiving "Season Tickets" of one kind or another! BONUS #2: Each member of the 2nd Place Red Team and 3rd Place Silver Team will also be receiving some GPs for their efforts! In Closing Distribution of any remaining prizes will take place shortly. If you haven't received all of your prizes by December 15th, please feel free to follow up with me directly. Thank you to everyone who made the "NaNoWriMo Write-A-Thon" possible this year. We wouldn't be able to do this without generous sponsors, competitive writers, and the support and encouragement of other members of the site. It's amazing to see what this community can accomplish when we band together and work toward a common goal. Thanks for everything, and I'll see you all next year!
