A support forum for writers dealing with mental illness |
The world became such nonsense with all those social networks. For example, I find it disturbing lately when I see posts on Facebook that say something like: don't scroll down without typing amen, or don't scroll down without hitting like on a picture of crying Jesus, in a context that you won't be forgiven if you do. This is disturbing because I see it as mental abuse of some sort. When did Jesus know about Facebook, please? And since when Facebook is a valid place to speak prayers? Please. It is disturbing because millions of people believe they'll get a good deed from God if they do so but the reality of these posts is different. It's just the way for folks who post these to get a lot of likes and wider exposure on the social network. This isn't just the case with religion. I've also seen posts of sick children and puppies and above their picture is written something like: I bet I won't get a lot of likes because I'm ugly. And it gets like million likes and crying emojis from all those compassionate people on social networks. WTF?! As far as I remember, parents have responsibility to teach their children to be kind and loving to everyone, whether it's the through their own preaching or if they send a child to religious classes, not some moron on Facebook who abuses sick children and puppies just so he can get a fucking like. I'm so furious when I see these! When I was younger, before I started school, I went to religious classes and I'm glad I did because I learned a lot about humanity and differences in faiths. However, today are different times, at least in my country. Today they use those classes to instill some kind of hate toward everyone who is different. Like I mentioned above, I don't have problems entering churches. I've even been to Bible study few times because I was curious. My religious class preacher told us there's nothing wrong in it. Even though he's not Christian himself he read the Bible because he had to familiarize himself and well because in the end all religions have one creator of the world, only different messiahs or messengers who had that one job to call people away from sin and whatnot. But, many of my friends here in real life act as if they'll burn if they only set a foot on the church's doors because it's not their religion. It's laughable. Religion is a wide area of opinions. For this reason and because for what I've seen what it does to a country such as mine, what it does to neighbours, friends here, I keep it for myself, inside of me. You'll never see me asking for prayers for myself, my family or a dog of my neighbour who is missing ![]() I don't know, like I said and I'll repeat it again, I keep my faith for myself, in my heart. If someone comes to quote me the Bible I say thank you but I'm not interested in hearing about it at this moment and I usually mention I'm not Christian which happened with this newbie as well. I mean, I don't know what to do with those. I can't conversate about the Bible when I didn't even read it. I can't conversate about Christianity when I'm not very familiar with what it means to be Christian. But then he got furious and said I'll burn in hell because I don't believe in Jesus. Wow. And even if I do that has nothing to do with him. People today have no respect for anyone. As for your friend and you, I hope you'll settle things down and go back to where you were before. It's such a shame to lose friends over themes like religion... and lately over politics as well. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Helpful links for newbies ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
