Oh, that breaks my heart. My 11-year-old daughter suffers from early-onset schizophrenia and so I get the disorder. It's awful! And I would bet, like my daughter, when he's in psychosis, he has NO idea what he's doing and won't remember it once he's out of psychosis. I'm so sorry you're experiencing that. Stay safe! With SCZ, an empathetic, compassionate, and soothing approach if confronted can work to de-escalate them. Whatever you do, don't react in kind as that will just make it worse (I learned this the hard way after my daughter started attacking me physically and verbally). And by all means, call the police but tell them it's a mental health crisis or a mental health emergency. You can also call MHMR in your area to make them aware of it so they can try and send a crisis team that's specially trained. I live in Texas too and yes, mental health SUCKS so badly here. We've been dealing with that for almost five years with my daughter. And it's getting worse every year. What part of Texas are you in? I'm in Central Texas - Temple.
