She wasn't diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder, as far as I know. All I know is that one of her first actual diagnosis was BPD. After learning more about NPD I saw a lot of my mother in it, which is why I mention it. I've always considered narcissistic behavior like insulting others in order to feel better to come from self-esteem issues. Those secure in themselves don't usually need to push others down in order to have a sense of self-worth.
