I've said in other places that Chelsea's my favorite character so shock of all shocks on that choice!. I'm sure I've mentioned it to you and others who ask too that somewhat ironically while I like her as a character she's among my least favorite impersonation targets though the reason ties into why I like her. Chelsea is a very dynamic character with a well-rounded personality. She can be as sweet as she can be cruel. She can be cunning and manipulative and she can be naive and made to look a fool. None of it really feels contradictory either. With Chelsea as an impersonation I feel the dynamism she provides stories disappears along with the real girl. At that point it becomes Will (or whoever) at the top of the heap doing this or that which I don't find as interesting to read. I also tend to like Andrea's little group (herself, Jelena, Sienna, Fatima, Hartlein and whoever) a lot too. To me it highlights the kind of "cool" (socially) part of Andrea's role as the "cool (in the more emotional sense) beauty". It's an oddball mixture of characters but I think they play off of each other well. The marching band is a really fun group of characters too with Brianna, Jack, Susie and (maybe because I've written her a bit) Philippa being the standouts to me. If I had to go with a favorite obscure or rarely used character... probably Ursula Jensen. She only had a proper role in a few chapters where Will (as Joe) tries to rope her in to the magic stuff playing off of her own interest in magic and astrology. It's not much but I liked her in that as someone both willing to believe but not having the patient for being jerked around, come off as both cool and strong-willed and dorky and fragile. She's someone I'd definitely love to see more of or write for but I'm not as confident in my ability to write the more magic-oriented stuff and I have a hard time thinking of stuff for her. |
