A support forum for writers dealing with mental illness |
One of my highest personal values is being real—being authentic—being honest. Something I never realized until participating in MHWA is that I am NOT open or honest about my mental health stuff. It is too scary for me. I believe, in part, this is because, in the olden days, this was not a subject we talked about. We did not want anyone to know too much about our mental health issues or even about a history of mental health problems in our families. It both amazes and frightens me to see the younger folks being so very honest. Like a turtle, I stuck my head out a bit for the first challenge over on "Invalid Item" ![]() I can not even imagine being willing to let folks know my complete mental health history—much less posting it online for the world to see. I know that we can set access restrictions on Writing.Com but I also know that glitches happen and private stuff could be exposed or someone with access could copy and paste our words. Can y'all tell I am a BIG chicken? Interesting—I am a turtle, a chicken and an odd duck all at the same time... I might even be a silly goose, what do ya think? ruwth may be an odd duck but ~ ~ ~ JESUS is still LORD! ~ ~ ~ |
