But of course I totally agree with everything you’ve said here, Darleen. Group therapy has put a lot of things in perspective for me. You have Person A whose life has been so unfathomably difficult, just a rotating door of horrifying experiences. Then you have Person B who is like, well, nothing specifically major happened. The day-to-day struggles of life and stress and worry have just left them paralyzed. At the of the day, they’re both in the same place. They’re both experiencing the same paralysis and it’s just as real and difficult for each of them. There’s nothing saying that Person A in Person B’s shoes wouldn’t be in the exact same spot and vice versa.
It has really taught me that people can struggle at all different levels and still learn from each other. No one’s struggles are invalid.
