Those are interesting questions. I don't know that lack of focus contributes directly to lack of motivation. You can be very motivated to do something but due to focus are unable to achieve it. I would think motivation is influenced more by emotional frame of mind rather than psychological. So you could be depressed because of lack of focus which then leads to lack of motivation. Most people are internally driven by SOMETHING. And you yourself later confirm this idea as well. The trick becomes finding the times when you are best able to focus and then using that to motivate yourself. I'm not always motivated but I'm often productive despite that. Once you understand the "why" of what you're doing, you can find a way to work around it.
