A support forum for writers dealing with mental illness |
You all received the following message in your email. If you have any thoughts on the email, please respond to this post. ![]() I want to start off by saying that I respect you guys a lot. I respect that you're struggling or have struggled with mental health issues. That being said, we need to talk about what counts and what doesn't count as a completed task in the "Invalid Item" ![]() The purpose of the monthly mental health challenge is for all of us to sincerely explore a variety of mental health topics, get into the habit of completing something each day (even when our mental health is being sucky), and support other people who struggle with mental health issues. In the spirit of the challenge, I want to make it super clear that the following things will no longer count as completed tasks from February moving forward: ![]() ![]() 1. There is a weekly task that involves responding to 4 different task entries per week. Other members can't respond to your individual prompts when you have them all grouped together in one entry. 2. My hope is that by separating our tasks into different blog entries, we'll put more thought into each task. Instead of writing 3 or less sentences for each prompt and finishing the entire week on day 1, we might be able to get more into the spirit of the challenge's purpose. Put simply, written entries that are only a few sentences long, are generic, or involve no exploration of mental health don't fit into the purpose of the "Invalid Item" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Another way to look at it is when thinking of an individual task, think of it the same way you'd think of the Topic of the Week. Look at how in-depth and thoughtful your responses are: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I understand that not every written task is going to connect with every member. I totally get that. But there's no improvement to be had by writing the task off as something you don't relate to and putting a minimally viable couple of sentences about it just to call it done. Of course you're still welcome to participate in MMHC in any capacity or way that you want. I've always been very open to people popping in for a few entries here and there. I'm not telling you how to do the challenge. I'm telling you that you're not going to be up for any rewards if your task responses aren't in the spirit of exploring your mental health and supporting others. ![]() Best, Charlie ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** Click Here to Join! ![]() |
