Mostly what I hear from friends is the dangers of having DNA on file with the government. They say that sites like Ancestry who offer DNA analysis actually sell your info to the government. Personally, I'm not too worried about this aspect of it because I've already been in a situation where my DNA would be on file.
In reference to the reasoning you specify, I see that there could be pros and cons to this. I mean, it would be nice to know the chances of having a child with particular disorders, so that you can be well studied and prepared. Although, I could see people using this database for the negative. Like, if you might be genetically likely to develop an illness employers not hiring you. Of course, this is a futuristic thought, where individual DNA analysis of others could be searched online, much like criminal history is.
