Ooh, I hoped this topic would come up in some way somehow, because music is such an important part of my life. ![]() -Honestly no, I haven't noticed it, because I don't really listen to popular music. Like pop music? Isn't really much in my repertoire, especially newer stuff. But it could be caused by the world we live in. It's becoming worse and worse tbh, with so many things that cause sadness and anger (like climate change, the rise of fascism, etc.) and I can see how people would end up exploring that through their music and trying to process it in that way. It's also really relatable to a lot of people. ![]() -I think it greatly depends on the person and that even for the same person, it can be helpful sometimes and harmful at other times. Like I know sometimes I end up wallowing in it and it makes me feel worse, but other times I find it helpful. I do think it's helpful when you can find music that speaks about how you're feeling and that you can relate to. It makes me feel a lot better when I can express my emotions through the music I listen to/sing because I have such a hard time expressing it most of the time. It's difficult for me to connect to my anger in particular and not repress it, so when I can find a good song that helps me connect, I like that. ![]() -We could be here all night if I listed every song that spoke to me. ![]() ![]() General mental health songs that speak to me are Mother Mother- "Baby Boy," "Get Up," "Back in School," "All Gone," and "Have It Out" (Can you tell I like Mother Mother? ![]() ...That's a lot. ![]() "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And when you look long into the abyss, the abyss also looks into you."-Nietzsche ![]() ![]() |
