I always knew I procrastinated for different reasons depending on the object of my procrastination. This article was quite helpful for me. I was able to identify several reasons that I put off doing things and some I think I can even do something about...later ![]() One of the big ones for me is Abstract Goals. I want to lose 20 pounds so I need to start exercising is too vague. I need to be more specific. I will walk to work and exercise three times a week is more attainable. I have a friend who writes her daily weekly and monthly goals down and I used to think she was a little overboard but now I see exactly why she does it and I'm going to start by writing a list of 5 things I want to achieve today. 1. Make a celery and apple juice in the juicer 2. Do 20 minutes of Yoga 3. Pack a healthy lunch 4. Sweep the stairs 5. Take kids to rugby and read while they're playing - not scroll on phone the whole time I've already done three of them so I'm in good shape. Another thing I know I do is Focus on Future Options. I won't bother eating healthy today because I'm going for groceries tonight so I'll wait until I have more options. Or I won't bother writing because I'm going to buy a new journal tomorrow and I want to start fresh. So silly when I say it out loud but I do it a lot. It's an excuse to be lazy or unhealthy for one more day is all it really is. August Leaf It takes courage to be vulnerable Brene Brown |
