Only Chapter One

Hello! Just wanted to say that this is an absolutely amazing place and a lifesaver. I imagine you're very busy right now and may not have time to take a look at this for a long time (if at all). No worries if life outside WDC (or on it) is asking too much of you at the moment.

Don't feel obligated to read a single word past the point where the chapter fails to hold your interest. My goal is to eventually create a publishable novel, and a reader in a bookstore wouldn't keep reading out of obligation, so I wouldn't ask that of anyone else, either.

I couldn't find anything about word count in the forum, but this is a bit of a hefty chapter. If it's too long, feel free to stop at any point! Thank you.
