Ugh, I hate when people try to get me to come out of my house. Not all the time, but sometimes I just want to be left alone. It doesn't necessarily mean I'm depressed or lonely or anything. I might just be tired or binge watching Netflix.
I agree that pressures and expectations make young people feel lonely. I think they feel like they're missing out if they haven't hit certain societal 'milestones' on time. Like if that haven't graduated by 23, haven't gotten married by 30, haven't had kids by 35, or whatever. It's weird to me because both of my brothers are married with kids and they have a lot of issues just due to the stress of having a kid and needing to be super financially stable to support their kids and pay their mortgages. It doesn't seem fun to me at all.
Like, you or I can skimp a little bit if we need to. I have certain things I need to pay on time, but other things I can go without for a while. If I had kids, I wouldn't be able to stretch myself so thin the way I often do.
