A support forum for writers dealing with mental illness |
Abso-friggen-lutely. I genuinely believe that 90% of the "bad" people in the world have had terrible things happen to them. I say 90% because there's always that 10% that's just a damn assh*le for no reason. It could be a number of things too... some people were abused by their parents, sexually abused, bullied in school, picked on by a sibling, harassed by a step-parent, heartbroken. I mean it could be ANYTHING but hurt people, hurt people. Most people [besides that 10% haahaha] don't just wake up one day and decide to shoot up an entire school, for example. That's a person who has so much anger and hatred built up inside of them that they eventually explode. It most likely isn't because of one issue either- it's many different smaller issues build up, and eventually, the person can't handle it. For example, yeah maybe their mom is abusive but that one thing alone they learned to deal with. But then, the mom gets a horrible mean boyfriend, and that builds to the boiling pot. Then, some kid at school starts bullying the person... Eventually, if enough piles on to each other, the pot is going to boil over. I don't care who you are. People can only handle so much. If you have mental health problems on top of it- forget it. You're going to explode. Long-term can do so much to a person's psyche. As I just mentioned, the person eventually will explode. Many kids are committing suicide because of bullying. I just read last week about a 10-year-old boy who committed suicide. He was being bullied. 10 YEARS OLD! Gone. An entire life destroyed and wasted. That boy could have been the person who invents the cure for Cancer, and he's gone because people are sh*tbags. I read a comment on the FB post about a woman who claimed to be from his hometown and said that it's not the FULL story. Yes, he was indeed bullied, but his mother was also really mean to him. Like I said, it builds. Suicide isn't the only thing. People commit murder and assault over being harassed and bullied. They shoot up entire schools. They resort to drugs, slowly killing themselves from the depression and low self-esteem that bullying causes. People are straight up cruel. They have no regard for another person's feelings. I've literally seen with my own two eyes, an elderly woman fall and teenagers cracking up hysterically laughing and making jokes. THAT'S SICK. People make fun of mentally disabled individuals and disabled people. And then wonder why people snap. You can't just treat people any way you want. People have feelings. Some may be more sensitive than other's, but at the end of the day, nobody is less deserving of being treated with respect. I love movies like this because it raises awareness. It gets people thinking and considering how that treat people. It may not last, but it's a start. It also is great for children (maybe not exactly this movie per se) but those types of topics are because you can then talk to your children and explain to them the effects of bullying in a way that they understand and connect with. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
