I think that by taking care of yourself for someone else, the end result is the same as taking care of yourself for you. Like in your example, you started taking care of yourself to attract a girl, but once you were in the routine of it, you continued doing so for yourself. Maybe taking care of yourself for someone else is a starting off point for some people.
