So maybe some people find memoirs self-indulgent or exploitive, but I love them. There is something so raw and honest about reading about what has really happened in someone"s life--the human experience is so interesting.
I've considered writing one, mainly out of writer's block. I figured if I couldn't write aything else I could at least write my own story and I've even started a few times, but it's hard. Trying to recreate dialogue and experiences honestly. I've been told I should write my story, and maybe I will someday, but I've found it easier to write about my experiences hidden in fiction.
A couple of my favorite memoirs are The Liar's Club and The Glass Castle (currently being made into a movie, yay!). There is a sequel to The Liar's Club I haven't read yet but would absolutely love to if my library would get it in!
