I totally get where you're coming from - memoirs for school (heck, ANY book read for school) is doomed from the start to be boring. Which is really too bad, in my opinion. As I mentioned in my responses to these questions, I've read several memoirs, and the best are those that tell a coherent story with the author integrated as one of the characters. That said, there are certainly BAD memoir writers that only seek to enthrall the world their their super cool, awesome, tragic life story. Those are ones to avoid
