Having blue eyes in the Middle East did make me stand out. People often thought I was visiting from Europe. When I told them I'm from America, they were amazed and wanted to talk. We received countless dinner invites, stores gave me gifts (whether I made a purchase or not). Everyone wanted to make sure I left with a good impression of the people.
