Oh wow, that's a perfect example of a miscommunication. It's wild, something so innocuous in your choice of words can somehow create a dangerous or bad situation. I'm glad he was okay though!

Our communication styles sound the exact same. I've also been told that I over-explain things and have even been told that I'm being condescending. My intention is to make sure the other person knows that I have the patience to explain and that I care about their understanding, but of course it comes off as though I think they're too stupid to understand.

Also definitely prefer straightforward communication when I'm on the receiving end. Like, don't play games, just clearly tell me what's going on.
