A support forum for writers dealing with mental illness |
I've actually never thought or looked much into mental health quotes, so I clicked the first link Google gave me for this. Here's one I like: Unexpressed emotions will never die. I was at work today and our floor lead had mentioned her uncle passed on Tuesday- he had dementia, so it was a slow process, but he went surrounded by people important to him. It led to a mini discussion about loss and suppressing/expressing (or not) emotions, and how, yeah, eventually, everything you hold in, will find a way to come out. Also, I just clicked the link (as opposed to reading the Google summary of the page, and there's more to the quote, and of course, this is from Sigmund Freud. Full quote: Unexpressed emotions will never die. They are buried alive and will come forth later in uglier ways. One I found to dislike: "I don't believe you have to have eating disorders and mental illness to screw up." ~ Kirstie Alley The... way it's phrased, sounds like you're royally screwed if you have an eating disorder or mental illness, and I'm pretty sure that's not true. I don't know if an eating disorder is considered mental illness or not (let's assume it is) but I don't believe "screwed" would be the best way to describe it. Also, I got approached by a weird dude today after work and I'm still kinda shaken about it so I'm not fully here. As for favorite quote, right now it'd be from Matthew Reilly- "I didn't make it this far, just to make it this far" It feels kind of like me, in the sense that I'm always internally trying to strive for more- reach higher, hold a pose longer, stretch longer, etc, and it's just an overall pretty good motto to live by, I think. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** Think you can write for teens?
