Definitely write. Lately I've learned that I can fiddle the boundaries of just about any genre to make it possible for me to write it (even managed romance and horror - really not my thing at all. Oh, and oriental poetry!). Reading the genre, however, doesn't give me the option of shifting it my way.
Found out I quite like writing oriental poetry. Not that I'm any good at it; it's just much easier than I expected. Unless you do what I fancy doing now: using oriental forms, remaining true to the philosophical aims that go with that but expressing western ideas with them. Now that's not easy!
