HOLY CRAP!!! I thought you meant like he'd end up killing her because she'd start using again and would die from it, not that he'd like ACTUALLY end up killing her ON PURPOSE!!! WHAT THE...?!? I can't imagine what you all went through!!!

Yes, love makes us do stupid things and so does addiction, so no doubt, mix the two and there's just nothing good going to come of that!

I'm glad you are able to get meds for your pain! There is another person on here who gets pain meds, but also has a son addicted to them, so they share, then end up in pain because they give too many away. They get so mad at him and will tell him he is only allowed to visit if he promises not to ask for anything. He agrees, but then does and guilts her into it. I feel bad for her, but on the reverse side, just DON'T. But I know that's easier said than done, especially if it's your own kid. It's a horrible situation all around!

Technically, she's my cousin-in-law, but she's way more social than my ACTUAL cousin, so yeah, I just call her my cousin. I tell her that she's the only one that keeps me up on the family gossip, so she can't drink herself to death, but you know... I'm half kidding, but half truthful. She gets all the info. I wouldn't know half of what's going on in the family without here! lol She's been to AA before and didn't like it. Probably because she's not always willing to admit she has a problem. And why would you go to one of those meetings if you weren't an alcoholic. She was forced to go to some drug and alcohol training after her DUI and it didn't help. She was just able to compare herself favorably with others there, especially the drug addicts. I did not think of sending her a 12 step program book. THAT seems like a good idea. Admittedly, she doesn't read much...um, or possibly ever. But at least it will be there if she decides she wants to take a look. She doesn't have to read the whole thing. She just needs to realize that she needs to get serious about quitting. She's been to rehab several times, but always quits after 2-3 days. She claims she misses her pets too much. Uh, yeah. Okay. I tell her they will be a lot worse off when she's dead. Oh well. Anyway, thank you for the book idea!!!
