Oh GOD! HERE HE COMES! (Bust and New Prompts)
Good creepy day to you all!

We done got ourselves another bust! You guys do it again and he’ll take another finger. Do you realize how much a pain in the buttocks it is to text with the tip of my nose?! I’ve gotten kind of good at sending the reply prompt with my tongue though. My wife likes it for some reason…

Now for Friday’s prompts…

A coffin ship.
(A good buddy of mine, KingKitsune Author IconMail Icon explained what one was to me the other day.)

OR

Purposefully BAD horror

Now, what does that mean? Well-written bad fiction tends to actually show signs that the writer is quite familiar with the genre they’re writing in. No, this does not mean that you turn in something that has the spelling errors of a fourth grader high off of a sugar rush. It means that you comment on genre norms in a knowingly overly cliche sense. The execution aims to laugh at itself. In essence, this is really horror comedy.

These were a couple of lines that I’ve been thinking about writing for the romance genre:

“They were meant to be. The truth of the matter became apparent when they kissed and the sounds of windshields breaking and car tires shrieking serenaded their embrace. Onlooking drivers could not deter their eyes from long gazes at the beautiful couple. Many died on that day, but all looked back on that moment with ceremonial cheer.”

Writing purposefully bad fiction is, to me, an inverse of difficulties. Planning out the plot is relatively simple, you cherry pick some of the usual tropes but the execution takes finesse in that the chosen narration and prose play on expectation with some form of uniqueness. Purple prose is not a bad style to adopt for this, using colorful language to poke fun at the usual suspects.

I know that this may deter people, so I wanted to make certain to leave the first prompt so you could opt out.

You have up to 2,000 words and until the stroke of noon Friday (WdC time) to drum up the madness that will shock and awe!

But whatever you do, don’t look up or down. You’re already in the SCREAMS!!! web.
