>> the new instructions in "Seventh Spell (Ludius) and Others" seem way too detailed I'm not yet wedded to the new descriptions, and feedback is very welcome. A lot of the detail is there for two reasons. 1. Lots of copying and pasting. It is tedious and harrowing (both) to try making instructions in Latin when you don't know the language. (BTW, I relied very much on Yandex Translate, which seems much superior to Google.) 2. Anything with golems requires some pretty dangerous stuff, and I wanted to make sure the instructions would look clear enough that no one would be likely to blow themselves up. All the stuff with running your finger around the sigil is to stop the ingredients from acting like they normally would. That being said, I went out of my way to be very explicit with the instructions not so that everyone would use them in their chapters, but so that there would be something solid in back of the vague descriptions that should probably be used in the actual chapters. It seems to me best that there be [b}some actual Latin with an actual meaning{/b} that we can all know is there even if we shouldn't use it, in order to keep varying, vague descriptions at least loosely tethered to a common reality. One of the consequences, of course, is that once the Latin is there -- and particularly if you're not a Latin expert and are trying not to make stupid mistakes -- the instructions are going to look a lot clearer and less confusing than they would would realistically be. |
