Whether it would be easy or not for a site owner/moderator to remove your chapters is a technical issue, having to do with the way the interactives are set up. So the real question is, why did they set up the interactives in a way that only the interactive owner can remove chapters? The owner gives the answer: If any chapter in-line prior to this chapter is deleted by the story owner, all chapters following it will also be deleted, What this means is that if you ask for a chapter to be removed, you are not only asking for its removal, you are asking for the removal of all sequel chapters, including any by other authors. So, for instance, if I removed my chapter "Hangover for an Absent Party Crasher" , it would also remove "The Female of the Species" , which is by a different author. Who should make that decision? Not the site owners, but the owner of the interactive. He or she is the one to decide whether to grant the decision to remove chapters, given the damage it could cause to the rest of the interactive. And I will say, as the owner of an interactive, that I don't want the site owners/moderators coming in and nuking chapters from BoM when doing so could delete tens, dozens, hundreds, or thousands of other chapters. What I don't understand is, why won't the moderators tell a member beforehand that the only way to grant their request is by nuking the membership? Thank God I never asked to have any chapters that I contributed to other interactives deleted, even though I might now be extremely embarrassed by them. |
