I don't know if this was suggested before; a quick search didn't find anything.
Often when it comes to formatting text for groups or activities, placing items in a grid would improve the readability of information. It would be very helpful to be able to make tables with WritingML.
Following HTML principles, we could do this (it would be even better if we could drop the entire {table} wrapper and make it automatic):
Tag Syntax: {table}
{row}
{cell}...{/cell}
{cell}...{/cell}
{/row}
{/table}
Example with raw WritingML:
{table}
{row}
{cell}Participant{/cell}
{cell}Entry{/cell}
{cell}Score{/cell}
{/row}
{row}
{cell}Arkady Martine{/cell}
{cell}A Desolation Called Peace{/cell}
{cell}4.52{/cell}
{/row}
{row}
{cell}Mark Lawrence{/cell}
{cell}The Girl and the Mountain{/cell}
{cell}4.43{/cell}
{/row}
{/table}
Example result: (mockup)
Participant Entry Score
Arkady Martine A Desolation Called Peace 4.52
Mark Lawrence The Girl and the Mountain 4.43
