Noticing Newbies

Hi,

I remember being on this site a long time back but now I've come back, and I want to get serious about my writing again! I write historical fiction short stories, and fantasy based on real history (except I give it my own twist) and I simply give it a good adventure treatment. I like writing novels or stories based on heists, war and adventure, etc. I've enjoyed movies like Pirates of the Caribbean (Scorpion King lol) and the Mummy Returns etc.

A little bit overwhelmed, but I look forward to posting new work here! I love this site, the other thing is, how do you get reviews? Is it based on a reciprocal manner? And which contests can free writers enter into? There's a lot of writing groups so I'm unsure of where to apply!
