Greetings dennis23468! Before I proceed with my thought about your suggestion, I'd like to welcome you to Writing.com. Welcome! Now. Aside from the tedious coding The StoryMaster needs to accomplish, this could pose a lot of cons once added. 1. Discourage readers. Critique may abuse this feature and post (or shall I say, add an inline comment) may be too harsh that would discourage readers. 2. Public. This of course can be viewed by everybody (unless of course if SM can employ a hiding mechanism for this to be set privately by the content owner, otherwise the owner will be out of control to this). 3. Messy popup/dropnote. I think this is something that could mess up ones composition and often distracts readers when they accidentally hit or perhaps hover their mouse over the inline comment (though I'm not sure how it has to be positioned, either a popup or a dropnote mechanism). Instead of this and as the current practice, we devised a way to do it through the review page. Simply take (copy) the sentence or paragraph you want to critique then add your comments next to it. Peruse the provided WritingML tools such us the bolding of texts, italicize, underline, strike through, superscript or subscript, and color coding. There's a lot of way to do it. Max Griffin 🏳️🌈's reviewing style is an example to this. https://www.writing.com/main/profile/reviews/mathguy Thanks for reading this.
