Writing.Com is incredibly lucky to have an ever-growing and increasingly diverse user base, and I've been lucky to see some amazing conversations on the Newsfeed recently, so I wanted to step up and be the first (not the first ever, but the first this year) to make a request for an addition or alteration to the current list of genres.
I'm glad the site has the Gay/Lesbian genre, but it doesn't encompass the wide array of orientations and identities in the world—and, indeed, represented on the site. Changing that genre name to LGBTQ+ (or simply adding a new genre) could be useful for many writers, I think, who find themselves unable to select a genre that fits their work.
If anyone's out there listening, I'd justify this request by mentioning that the site wisely has the "religious" genre for WdC members of all creeds. Having an LGBTQ+ genre would allow bi, trans, intersex, asexual, and other writers to share their stories.
