Looking for a guiding light. May 2024 round is open, looking for short stories. |
Hey, y'all. Those Required details that go along with the genres don't have to be what your story is about. Each is a just a detail that has to be present somewhere in your story—preferably in a striking way. If you're inspired to make the detail the main idea, that's great! Go for it! But it's not required, and doing so will neither hurt nor help your chances. Keeping your story within a genre is important, though. Push the boundaries if you feel pulled to do so—absolutely! But make sure you're writing a story for which your chosen genre is still the only logical choice for that first genre drop-down box on the item's creation/edit page. You're free to hash anything out in this forum or in an email to me, always, but if you have a question that starts, "Is it okay if...." and your idea falls within all the guidelines, then the answer is "Yes." But if you need further clarification, someone else might need it, too, without even realizing it, so please ask. |
