Where I am, NaNoWriMo starts in less than 20 hours. So, this is a final message before things become, shall we say, serious. You've got this! A month of intense preparation - even if you didn't complete all the tasks - has made you ready to tackle November head-on. You have planned your story, you've got to know your characters, you've looked at thematic elements, you have a conclusion that occurs after complications, you've been supported and will continue to be supported by one another and others here on WdC. You've got this! Now, I've said all this before, but I think it bears repeating: You do not have to write a perfect story. This is a first draft. Fix mistakes, edit it, look at plot holes, all that, in your second draft. For November, just write. Worry later. Next, you don't have to finish the story. Write 50,000 words of a story. Don't push yourself to complete your three-book trilogy this month; that's not the purpose of NaNoWriMo. And, then, even if you don't reach the 50,000 word mark, the fact you would have written anything is words you had not written before. All words are good words. Finally... HAVE FUN! Don't make this a chore. Enjoy yourself. You've got this! |
