Cassie always comes to mind because she's expressed having a secret crush on him

The status on Cassie's crush is always kind of weird to me. It's not really a secret since everyone who knows her knows about it (Cassie seems like the sort who'd be very bad at hiding how she feels about things). The confusion, for me, comes from whether or not Will is aware of it. It seems like in some branches he is and in some he's ignorant of it... often times with the same writer doing both. I include myself because I'm never really sure of which it is though I lean always lean towards Will not being aware of it since the male lead being a total ignoramus about a girl's intentions is such a classic romance story trope. Plus given how Will is, I could see him being dismissive of the idea that a girl is interested in him unless she outright tells him.

It's why, at least in this branch, Laura seems like a good front runner for being CM - she's not very well known but knows Will from before, probably alerting him to his hidden depths.

The way Laura tends to act whenever she shows up and interacts with Will in BoM, I've gotten the impression that she definitely likes him and maybe has for a long time. But whenever Will encounters her for the first time, it's always emphasized that they've drifted apart and that she's gained weight. So if Laura liked him and if we're taking what the Chelsea-disguised Clover said as being an indicator that they're somebody romantically interested in him, I think it's a pretty obvious motivator that she'd use masks because it's a way to get close to him again, especially if she's worried that he would be turned off by her physical appearance.

Which I don't think he would be but if she has self-esteem issues or a poor self-image then she'd certainly think that.

As for boys, yeah I don't think it's going to be any of Will's friends. Caleb and Keith are aggressively straight. James probably is as well since part of his deal is having a crush on Jenny. I don't think Carson's been shown having interest in anyone but I assume he'd be straight as well. Jack I don't think really even knows that Will exists until they have reason to interact. In fact, most of the guys who are gay or fluid in their sexuality largely belong to groups that don't interact with Will and largely have no reason to take notice of him.

Maybe someone like Jamie Rennerhoff is a possibility. He's straight AFAIK but he's also an outright weirdo given that he seems to have something of an Oedipus complex and I could see him only caring about getting his rocks off. Plus if Clover is one person and not multiple people the fucking with Will and fucking Will probably fits with him.

So I'd say if Clover is a single person then he and Laura are probably the best bets.
