I'm honestly still not convinced that Clover is necessarily interested in Will, and that taking her words at face value, especially while she's wearing Chelsea's mask, is a mistake. That being said, Laura is a strong candidate for being Clover Mystery, and if it is her, then that sort of interest is very possible.

Some more evidence that could point to being Laura is that, if I'm recalling correctly, the incidents with Clover didn't start until Will blew off a date with her, especially when it looks like Will was willing to go when he was originally supposed to be going with Elle which could exacerbate the issues you mentioned about self confidence and body image. And it could very well provide a motive to mess with him, especially considering she's been described more than once as having a wicked sense of humor. She also has a history of using pseudonyms, which I suppose isn't particularly suggestive of anything given how the internet works, but still.

Rennerhoff is definitely someone that's suspicious given that he fucked with Will using the phrase "what's in the coffin," though I don't know if it's a noteworthy change that the phrase Clover used was "Who was in the coffin." I think Rennerhoff is probably a red herring. If Rennerhoff was involved in this, then his friends like Call would be involved too, because I'm pretty sure Rennerhoff is too stupid to do stuff like this alone. I also think that if that group was involved, they'd be using the masks much more maliciously than Clover has been.
