A month-long novel-planning challenge with prizes galore. |
Isn't that what Hannibal from the A-Team always said? I looooved watching that show as a kid. True story: last year in New York, gathering my balls and entering a police precinct in Staten Island to ask them what hurricanes Irene & Sandy did to their station & part of the borough (research for overhauling Novel 2 & 3 in the series). They really took the time to answer my questions! And while they did, a guy looking like Mr. T come alive in camouflage entered the place, and greeted the other officers (so he was off-duty). Then me. I answered he'd look so hot. He gaped at me , too. And I said that with watching the TV-show. He relaxed, grinned flattered, then sized me up and said: "German missy, you don't look old enough to have watched the A-Team as a kid." (I'm 41.) Me: "Your mama raised a well-mannered boy. Hope Mrs. T. appreciates it." He grinned and nodded. The other cops laughed. Dude, that was close. Could've ended different. American cops are considered quite... humorless over on the Old Continent. Anyway, "Officer T" made such an impression on me, that he entered last year's NaNo-novel as Luther "Sarge T" Bailey, an acquaintance / colleague of MMC Vince. And I worked the dialogue above into the chapter, too. Babble mode out. SORRY! |
