One thing I'll say is that I don't actually know yet how Elsie learning about magic would go. Her dad is, as said, "traditional" and that probably colors her a lot because she lives and was raised in a very "the pater familias is the final authority" home. But Elsie might be looking for opportunities to rebel. It was said that he has views about things that can be... antiquated or disagreeable that Elsie doesn't share. Then, as she said in this chapter, she kissed Will in part because there was a thrill in doing it right under her parents' nose. So maybe she finds magic unnerving or bad, or maybe she sees it as a chance to further break free. Or maybe both. Hannah... like I said I don't know if she's been developed or given much attention prior. She's always felt like a character hanging on the periphary whose actions behind the scenes have influenced things but rarely is she directly involved. I don't believe we know the precise circumstances behind her coming in but it did cause chaos. And if she has Stephanie's mind then she knows that Stephanie plans to publicly humiliate her so the gloves are off as far as she's concerned. But you're right in that she'd trying to apply her own situation to another's and who knows how that would work out if he goes along with it. I see her as very brazen and self-assured, possibly recklessly so, and her actions could definitely lead down an undesirable path. |
