Expanded Portfolio Size (and other limitations)

I like the site, but the memory limits make it hard for me to recommend to other writers.

I recognise this is an older platform that operates more independently than some other sites. This has its advantages, and I like the smaller community.

However, tying subscriptions to portfolio size is outdated. Nowadays you can get gigabytes of storage on traditional HDDs for cheap, and even with SSDs. This website contains relatively few images, and those that are there have a 500 KB max limit. The entire site could probably fit onto a dual-layered DVD.

No other platform imposes restrictions on the amount of text content users can upload. Fanfiction.net was never the best, but even it had the sense to give free users far more story space than ten stories.

I find myself in a bind with my future usage of WDC, mainly because my stories are in two languages. With a Premium subscription allowing only twenty-five books, I can upload a maximum of fourteen multi-chapter stories.

This is archaic, and paying 260 dollars a year for fifty books is also too much. Contrast this with Archive of Our Own, which offers unlimited space. They don't host images directly, but they allow linking to external images, a feature that could benefit this site greatly.

I'm willing to pay for a service I enjoy, but the limitations here are a serious drawback. They might have been acceptable in 2005, but they are inadequate in 2025.
