Prompt: Summer
what do you think about the summer season, and/or how would you personify summer in a story or poem?
Love summer. Ever since I was a young kid I looked forward to summer. My birthday is in July and as soon as school was out, I started thinking of summer and staying up late, playing out side a lot; it was just a fun time (I was born 1945 and the 50s was wonderful). She he we go:
School is out and summer is officially here
There will be trips to the beach and fishing off the pier
Swim parties at Mr. Switzer's house up the street
He has a pool, he's nice and that is where we all meet.
Summer means hot days which I do not mind
Playing outside till evening's summer nights
Sleeping under the stars, talking till late
When mom says, "Go to bed it's late." which we hate.
Summers we ate outside; cooked hamburgers and hot dogs
We sat outside and listened to the croaking of frogs
Fireworks were part of our summer 4th of July play
How I loved those summers and wish they would stay..
