"One Golden Summer" by Carly Fortune This was featured in my library's "new" books section and, to be honest, the cover just grabbed me. I don't think I even read the description. I just thought, this will be a great summery read. It was hot here when I read it a couple weeks ago. Oddly, it's cold now. But anyway, it felt like summer when I was reading it and it felt like a lovely summer read. There was one point where I thought "this really is a golden summer." It could be slow / boring at times, but overall it was really good. I didn't realize it was the second of a series, so I do plan to read the first one. I think it would be nicer to have read them in order, but I was impulsive and that's what happens sometimes. SPOILER don't read more if you're going to read the book and don't want it spoiled. no peeking haha! I remember thinking that it'd be important later in the book when the heroine caught the hero taking his blood pressure. I was only surprised that it took so long for the truth behind it to come out. It's not normal, I don't think, for healthy 30 something year olds to be taking their blood pressure regularly at home. OKAY BACK TO NORMAL REVIEW I really loved how the hero was with the heroine's Grandmother and that the three of them did so many things together during the summer. I loved how he stood up for her and how she came out of her shell with him. I loved his brother and sister in law (who are featured in book one). It was a nice, summer read. I am still glad I read it. Happy almost summer! |
