A month-long writing challenge, using The Beatles' songs as inspiration. |
I didn't even notice the Sgt. Pepper anniversary is the same day as this challenge begins. I wish I could claim to having planned it that way, but I didn't. I don't think The Beatles 'lost it' with 'Revolver.' I don't think they ever lost it. It may have been difficult, at times, to write and to record together, but I don't think any of their albums suffered for it. As for my favourite, I'm not sure. I was going to start a thread, asking everyone for their favourite songs and albums, but then I tried to work out what mine are. And ... well, I'm still trying t work it out. I think it changes, depending on my mood. Okay. Let me share with you my conclusions thus far (and ask for yours, if it is possible to lay it down). As a child, my favourite was 'Eleanor Rigby.' This was my dad's favourite, and so it held a special place in my heart. As a teen, I adored 'Hey Jude.' About ten-fifteen years ago, I became obsessed with 'I Saw Her Standing There.' In the last six months or so, my obsession switched to 'Girl,' and now, 'Two Of Us' and 'Don't Let Me Down' send a thrill washing over me. So, actually, I still don't know my favourite song. As for album, I always loved 'Rubber Soul.' But, now, I'm rather fond of 'Abbey Road' and 'Let It Be.' So, really, I've failed in my own task of naming my favourite songs and albums. How about you? |
