Word Count

A few years ago, the subject of the Word Count came up here. But I don't believe it was addressed directly like this:

Is it possible to add the Word Count feature to the icon bar above edit windows?

I know it's available in the Edit mode using the gear icon for each item. But ... let me cite an example. This month, blog entries may be entered into a specific contest, which requires a word count. When writing a blog entry, the word count feature is under the gear icon, and is not available until you save your blog. So to enter a word count, one has to save the entry, open the edit feature, select Word Count, and then re-edit the entry to add the word count.

I know it's only a few extra steps. But only when you save your blog that first time, does a window open for you to post your blog on the Newsfeed (if desired). But it wouldn't be complete at that point, having no word count. Adding the WC requires another edit.
