BEACH HUT 512 is a totally WOW! short story with an immense number of twists stacked into its every nook and crevice! A fast read--despite the many times I paused, jaw dropping, to think "Say what, now?" at each new revelation.
I categorize this as a documentary style story, told in two very disparate yet inextricably connected points of view; and reading it is so akin to following a true-crime Nonfiction or documentary report, as around each corner some new revelation rears its head. Watching the multiple character arcs unfold is satisfying and delightful, and I came away with a true sense of closure: mission completed.
Author Dorothy Koomson took a setting completely unfamiliar to me [Brighton, England, and "Beach Side Residences," as one character insists on naming Beach Huts] and made what was unfamiliar both completely understandable and immensely intriguing while tautening the suspense ever more!
